Credits and licences

Not a So Boring Walk (NSBW) is a free, non-commercial service. It is built on the open data and free software listed below, and we are grateful to all of them.

Map data: OpenStreetMap

Paths, scenery (woods, meadows, fields, buildings), points of interest and the address search index: © OpenStreetMap contributors, data available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0.

NSBW’s path, scenery and point-of-interest tiles and its address index are databases derived from OpenStreetMap; they too are made available under the ODbL 1.0. They are produced from Geofabrik extracts and the Overpass API service; a copy can be requested from the contact address on the Privacy page.

Base map

Terrain

Elevations: Terrain Tiles (Mapzen, an Amazon Web Services open dataset), based on the following sources (full list):

• Europe terrain data produced using Copernicus data and information funded by the European Union — EU-DEM layers;
• global GMTED2010 and SRTM terrain data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey;
• global ETOPO1 terrain data, U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Address search

First NSBW’s own address index (OpenStreetMap, see above); failing that, Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation, data © OpenStreetMap), in line with its usage policy.

Links

Point-of-interest cards link to Wikipedia and Wikidata when OpenStreetMap provides them.
